![]() This pattern was adapted from Thea Dueck's pattern, on the occasion of my older Sister's wedding. |
The Ice Angel |
The Serenity Prayer |
![]() After a bit of a challenge, my sister announced they were expecting their first baby. I thought an Angel would be the most appropriate gift.
Since she was due in the winter, this Angel was even more perfect for little Morgan. |
![]() Designed by D. V. Giampa. Not the most enjoyable piece to stitch, but effective when completed. |
The Angel of the Morning |
The Angel of Light |
![]() I fell in love with the colour combinations of this Angel. When she was finished, it was clear she was for my little sister. |
![]() The inspiration to sew this Angel for my Mother came as soon as I saw the little village she was flying over.
It was also chosen by my Mum because of the green robes, which is her favourite colour. |
Beaded Wedding Sampler |
The Angel of the Sea |
![]() Designed by Needlepoise and was chosen for the wedding of friends while visiting the UK with Evan. |
![]() Since my first niece was given an Angel at her birth, it was only fair that Paige should receive one too. Because my sister's hair is not blonde,
I felt it more appropriate to stitch this Angel with brown hair. |
Nantucket Rose |
The Angel of Hope |
![]() Despite not being an Angel, this pattern touched me in a very homely and ancestral kind of way. |
![]() During the course of my degree, I was inspired to stitch this Angel because she seemed so musical and calming. My favorite colour
also happens to be blue. |
The Lady of the Thread |
In the Arms of an Angel |
![]() This pattern remains a mystery to me. She is supposed to be stitched on black linen, but I stitched her on bright white and added a
treasure braid to the white of her dress.
|
![]() To date, one of my crowning achievements. I stitched her specifically at the request of my sister when I unexpectedly became an Aunt
again to little Ella. After stitching 75% of her, I disliked the colour combinations SO much I tore most of it out and added my own
colours. I mixed her sisters' Angels and Celtic Springs' colours for the final result. |
The Faith Sampler |
Another Pansy Sampler |
![]() My parents celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2005. I modified this pattern to reflect this occasion. |
![]() This sample was modified and stitched one over one for my cousin's wedding. |
The Angel of Love |
Mother's Tree |
![]() I had not in fact planned to stitch an Angel for my Father, but instead a cope shield. Since that project will take a few years still, this
Angel called out to be stitched. She is 90% beads...
|
![]() I was moved by the sentiment of this pattern. How many times do you find a family tree devoted specifically to the maternal
heritage? |
The Angel of Freedom |
The Angel of Grace |
![]() This Angel is the second of two that I have now stitched for my Mum. She is the mirror image of the Angel of Light. I had to convince
my Mum to let me stitch her because she feared when the two were hung together they would fly into each other.

Ode to chocolate and peanut butter...
I'm hoping that I've just finished what is the VERY last 10 page paper I'll ever have to write in my entire life! On a slightly depressing subject, but it was interesting to research.
When my dad (an Anglican priest) does things like weddings and baptisms he likes to wear a ceremonial garment called a cope. It was originally a cape, and a hood in the 8thC. Now the hood is a ceremonial shield on the back with specific embroidery on it. For the last four years I've been designing the shield for a cope my mum and I are supposed to make for my dad. I've finally finished it!! Each of the four emblems represents the four churches that my dad serves in the UK. I can't wait to stitch it :P
I've also finished the Lady of Thread finally. I decided to do her on a white linen instead of black. And instead of adding a mirror and the random bushes in back of her head I decided to leave it blank for more simplicity to compliment my Serenity Prayer.
Now I can start a surprise project I've been trying to start since October... ;)Sunday, May 21, 2006
Trip to Ottawa
Our second stop was to meet Senator Lavigne who showed around the Senate offices (which are gorgeous) and then took us to lunch.
We were invited to dine with several politicians while overlooking the Rideau canal. The lunch itself was amazing!! A buffet style spread with salads and various hot meats at one end of the room and deserts on the other. Courtney and I split the deserts we chose in half so we didn't look like we were pigs...
After lunch we were introduced to the Senate which was be recorded in the Canadian records forever!! Cool, eh! After about 15 minutes, we left the Senate and were allowed to watch a parliamentary debate. I swear they're like a bunch of little boys in a day care!!
Finally, we walked around the grounds for a few minutes to see some of the statues, before driving back home. Sunday, May 14, 2006
**HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY**
My Mother is amazing!! Today I want the world to recognize my Mother for the amazing woman she is! My Mum is an strong, independent, academic genius who tirelessly works to love and provide for me and the rest my family. Life has not always been kind to her, and God knows she puts up with a hell of a lot from me! No matter how frustrated or angry I can be with her, I know she is always infinitely wiser... I love you Mummy, I miss you and I can't wait to see you soon!!!

A Cuppa'
On the education front, I finally got word that I passed all the courses I took last semester so the counter above makes it official! If all goes well and I pass all the courses I'm taking at the moment I'll be DONE. I can't jump physically high enough to express my glee! Keep all fingers crossed ;)This week I managed to put up a ceiling fan I got from a friend of mine ALL BY MYSELF! Muhahaha!!! I didn't even electrocute myself and it worked the first time I turned it on, cool eh?! Grease Monkeying here I come!
It's been raining here now for two days, and what does that mean? No disrespectful children driving me crazy outside my windows! YEAH!! It also means I can have all the window open and the apartment ventilated without the background noise of screaming and of Cohiba being taunted. With the new fan it means real air circulation for the first time since I moved in five years ago!!!
Since it's raining and a Saturday I'm justifiably stitching, with a cup of tea near by and watching the Seeds of Doom, the Masque of Mandragora and the Hand of Fear (gotta love Dr. Who!). I have two other stitching projects I want to start, so I need to finish this poor Lady of the Thread (which I keep putting on hold for other projects) before she ups and finishes herself in spite... ;)
